Sharing my art, sharing my organization

I have belonged to the Society of American Mosaic Artists almost since its inception. This year is the 20th anniversary of the organization. Every year members eagerly look forward to the annual conference and exhibition. It’s an opportunity to learn, share, show our work, and the most important for me, reconnect with friends and colleagues from all over the world and have fun! I’ve been to cities around the country that I would probably have not otherwise ever gone.

This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic we are not able to have our conference. It was scheduled for next week in Tuscon, Arizona. This is another city I’ve never been to and was excited about going. Additionally, my partner Rochelle Schueler and I were prepared to enter our site-specific installation we completed in Mexico last November into the Mosaic Arts International competition. Alas, all plans had to be put on hold. We are all dearly hoping that we will be able to hold the conference at the rescheduled date next January. Whenever we can next be together, it will be a true celebration.

Meanwhile, the SAMA organization stepped up with new activities to help keep our “tribe” of like-minded artists connected. One thing that I jumped on the list to do is show my mosaic art collection. Mine is the fourth one to be published on their website. I’ve really enjoyed getting a peek into the homes and collections of some friends and colleagues all over the country. I’d also like to share mine with my friends and followers, so enjoy!
