I am a member of Cascadia Mosaic Collective, a group of 10 mosaic artists/friends/colleagues from Oregon and Washington. We’ve exhibited together in the Northwest since 2017. Our newest exhibition will be in Olympia, Washington. Here are the details. We invite anyone who lives near Olympia, or is interested in a road trip to make an appointment and see our work!
I created this work in the fall of 2023, with the intention of entering it into the Contemporary Mosaic Art juried exhibition in Eugene, Oregon, in May of 2024. I am pleased to announce that it was accepted, and will be shown at the New Zone Gallery in Eugene from April 30 – May 31 2024.
Rhythm and Renewal takes a discarded piece of jagged, rusty metal and gives it new life as the focal point of a new wall sculpture. I’m thinking about the traditions and rhythms of the past as anchors to ground me as I move through life. Always juxtaposed on the order is the ongoing journey through the messy and the unknown, with the goal of crafting a satisfying life.
